Tone and Texture
Following the success of the exhibition at St John's college last month we are now preparing a new series of pictures for Oxfordshire Art Weeks 2019. The exhibition will be showing at Stanford House, 65 High Street, Oxford, OX1 4EL from Saturday 4th to Sunday 12th May. It will be open from 11am until 6pm (8pm on Thursday) and will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. I will be exhibiting with the ceramicist Sally Dorrity whose unique hand built pots provide a natural compliment to my own work (www.sallydorrity.co.uk).
The new series was shot on the Norfolk coast in September 2018 and March 2019. It continues to explore the potential of monochrome photography to illuminate the radiance and rhythm of natural light. The Norfolk coast reinforces this tonal exploration through examples of transitional states as the land slowly gives way to the sea via marshes, heathland and muddy estuaries. The textures of this varied landscape provides a reality that inspires and also contains the pictorial experiments with tone.
All the pictures will be printed on museum quality paper and professionally mounted and framed behind non reflective glass. See https://www.artweeks.org/galleries/2019/rob-farrands
